Seven Bedford Row has hired Orange Broadband managing director Stephen Allen as its new chief executive. Allen joined the common law set on 12 January. The set has been looking to fill the position since former CEO Robert Graham-Campbell left last September to join Maitland Chambers.

The amendment to Civil Procedure Rule (CPR) 5.4, now in force, has reversed the default position that statements of case (except the claim form) in civil litigation would only be released to the public from the court file if the court gave permission.
