Olswang ups pro bono hours by 6% as value soars to £1.3m

Olswang has more than doubled the value of pro bono advice handed out by its lawyers in 2011-12 compared with the previous year to more than £1m. The firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) report shows the UK top 30 firm carried out £1.3m of pro bono legal advice during the last financial year, compared with £518,692 during 2010-11.

Hogan Lovells CSR report shows pro bono hours fell 15% last year

Hogan Lovells' staff carried out 15% fewer pro bono hours in 2011 than the previous calendar year, according to the firm's most recent Citizenship Report, an annual briefing detailing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The report shows that during 2011, the firm, which employed 5,069 full-time equivalent staff in 2011, recorded a total of 104,047 pro bono hours across 40 of its 43 offices wordwide, compared with 122,935 hours across the same amount of offices in 2010.

Freshfields values 2011 pro bono efforts at £8.8m in annual report

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has seen the amount of time devoted to pro bono and volunteering work by partners and employees fall by 11% over the last year, according to its 2010-11 corporate responsibility (CR) report. The firm dedicated 49,743 hours worth £8.79m to pro bono and volunteering activities according to the report - with the hours tally significantly down on 2010.

Clifford Chance's (CC) partners increased their pro bono contributions by 31% last year, with the firm as a whole investing hours valued at a total of £17.8m in pro bono work during 2010-11. The figures are contained within CC's annual corporate responsibility report, which states that the magic circle firm invested a total of 58,368 hours in pro bono and community activities during the year, up 2% from the figure of 57,071 hours reported last year.
