After threatening to kill himself, Richard S. Thompson, who resigned in 2004 as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia after abusing his authority, has been jailed on a second felony aggravated stalking charge. Thompson also faces revocation of his bond on a pending stalking charge after he allegedly resumed stalking his former girlfriend last week.
