Jay Edelson, who obtained a $2 million contempt judgment against Tom Girardi last month, maintained in a court filing on Tuesday that he didn't act alone, but worked with two former lawyers, Keith Griffin and David Lira, to create a "coordinated false narrative" that Boeing was holding up missing settlement payments to clients.

At a Zoom hearing on Tuesday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Barry Russell, overseeing two Chapter 7 involuntary bankruptcy petitions filed last month, asked whether Girardi or his firm, Girardi Keese, were present. After a pause, he said, "Silence will tell me." He later issued an order authorizing a trustee to oversee the bankruptcy cases.

A review of lawsuits filed in the past two years reveals that Tom Girardi and his firm, Girardi Keese, allegedly defaulted on million-dollar loans from numerous litigation financing firms, failed to pay clients their settlement funds and ignored fee arrangements with other lawyers. In addition, former firm partners, including retired name partner Robert Keese, and vendors for office equipment, court reporter services and security guards at his home have filed lawsuits.
