West Virginia University College of Law promoted Greg Bowman to dean on Friday, after he had served as interim dean for nearly a year.

Meanwhile, the University of New Mexico announced that School of Law dean David Herring would step down on July 1 after two years on the job. Herring said in an interview Monday that most of the faculty no longer supported his vision for the school's future.

“I really had two goals in coming here—to prepare a rigorous measure of student learning outcomes, and to give faculty incentives to pursue interdisciplinary empirical scholarship,” Herring said. “The faculty at the time expressed support for those goals but, over the course of my first year, that excitement faded. So it was time to move on.”
