Investing in the future of the profession has been a major focus of my year as president of the New York State Bar Association. The efforts to reach this goal require us to continue to evolve while maintaining the bedrock principles of our system of justice. The recent past has shown us that embracing opportunity and being legal innovators will be the basis for our profession to operate more fairly and efficiently while providing better outcomes for ourselves and our clients.

Along with new technology comes new challenges to advancing the principles established by our Constitution, our courts and our laws. As we go forward, the need to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion must remain at the forefront. The growing threats to our democracy and the Rule of Law highlight the fact that these issues are still prevalent in the legal profession and society at large.
