What are some of your most satisfying successes of the past year and why?

There are two very satisfying successes done in this past year:

  • The establishment of the North America Center of Excellence (NACC) in Mexico to provide efficient, cost-effective and standards-based contract support across PepsiCo's Sales, Marketing, Operations, Procurement and R&D teams. Standing up a new organization in under six months led by subject matter expert team of attorneys to assist in building the NACC, working to develop a NACC function budget with appropriate cost centers and intercompany tax agreements in place, successfully hiring new talent in-country in Mexico, while working to increase productivity by building standardized contract playbooks and training materials for use by new NACC talent.
  • Expanding the scope of PBNA Legal's "Celebrating Success" Committee to include wellness topics and embedding a culture that recognizes the importance of achieving wellness individually and in managing the productivity of others. It is empowering to develop as a lawyer and learn positive cognitive behavioral tools on the job. This type of leadership training is aimed to enhance wellness and managerial development, ensure reputational and professional growth, and boost critical experiences and relevance in industry, in-house, and personally. The team regularly engages as a team and as sub-groups to develop programs, run events and promote individual successes and team achievements.

What is your best advice for in-house lawyers trying to make an impact with their corporate clients and beyond?
