Englewood, Colo.-based apartment owner Archstone-Smith Trust has been acquired by a joint venture of Tishman Speyer Properties and Lehman Brothers Inc. for $22.2 billion in cash and assumed debt. London-based National Grid PLC, a supplier of natural gas and electricity from its five northeastern U.S. stations to around 3.4 million customers, has been granted approval by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to purchase fellow natural gas provider KeySpan Corp. The final price was $7.3 billion. KeySpan, headquartered in Brooklyn, is the largest gas distributor in the region, with 2.6 million customers.
