In a $2.7 billion cash and stock transaction, The Walt Disney Co. has agreed to combine its 22 ABC radio stations with those operated by Citadel Broadcasting Corp. The new company formed, Citadel Communications, will control a total of 177 FM stations and 66 AM radio stations in many of the country's top markets. Also, Time Warner Inc. has sold its book division to Paris-based media group Lagardere SCA for $537.5 million, allowing the French conglomerate to become the world's third-largest book publisher.
