The 1890s: Pushing for Court Reform
The editors lunged into a no-holds-barred campaign for constitutional revamping of the court system. A commission appointed by the governor vaunted a series of constitutional amendments. They were all defeated, either by legislative inaction or at the polls, but the informed discussion memorialized in the Law Journal formed the basis for renewed efforts that eventually led to a constitutional convention in 1947.Trending Stories
