Task Force Warns Against Bidding in Class Actions

A task force of federal judges, law professors and attorneys has come out with a report warning against the use of auctions to select lead counsel in class actions. The report comes at a time when class action filings are at a record high due to securities fraud allegations from the dot-com fallout. Six judges have tried auctions since the method was first pioneered by California Judge Vaughn Walker.
