Undercover investigators found head shop employees selling mislabeled bath salts and other synthetic drugs that mimic cocaine and marijuana, and telling customers how to use them, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said yesterday. His office filed lawsuits in 12 counties to stop the illegal sales.

A New York judge found the State liable for the pain and suffering of a woman who underwent four months of unnecessary and debilitating treatment for tuberculosis. Judge James P. King held that the mislabeling of a specimen at a state health laboratory was the cause of the woman's injuries and rejected the State's argument that the woman's physician was at fault. The State claimed that the doctor ordered a powerful anti-tuberculosis drug regimen without confirming the diagnosis.
