The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has agreed to decide if the U.S. Supreme Court's decision this summer in Ring v. Arizona gives condemned inmates a fresh opportunity to appeal their sentences. Ring held that juries, not judges, must decide the elements needed for a death sentence, and in doing so overturned the death sentences of more than 150 death row inmates nationwide.

The first two executives ensnared in the nation's stock options scandal pleaded not guilty Wednesday in federal court to charges of making false statements to securities regulators, falsifying records and other charges.
