Government Can Withhold Sept. 11 Detainee Names Until After Appeal

A federal judge ruled Thursday that the Bush administration does not have to immediately reveal the names of those detained in the investigation of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler in Washington, D.C., issued a stay of her Aug. 2 order, which had given the Justice Department 15 days to release the names, in order to give government lawyers more time to appeal.
