McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen and Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May have been swallowed up in mergers, while Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison fell apart in a spectacular collapse. The biggest beneficiaries were East Coast firms that acquired some California-style diversity along with legal talent.
