When actor/singer David Cassidy died on Nov. 21 from organ failure, he left behind a legacy of popular music both as a solo artist and with the Partridge Family. He also, unfortunately, left behind some pretty hefty legal bills, and his attorneys are calling to collect.
According to entertainment website The Blast, the law firm Rodier & Rodier, which had represented Cassidy for five years in various cases, sued the actor over unpaid legal bills in 2013. The total due was $134,221.50, of which Cassidy had paid $31,387.50. That left a balance of $102,834.
Cassidy filed for bankruptcy in 2015, and listed Rodier & Rodier as a creditor. The bankruptcy was ultimately dismissed, but the debt was not discharged.
The Hallandale Beach-based law firm relaunched their case in Florida court on Oct. 3 of this year. A hearing had been set for Dec. 20. After Cassidy's death, Rodier & Rodier submitted documents to substitute Cassidy's estate as the defendant.
According to Cassidy's will, The Blast reports, his estate is worth $150,000 in assets, which were to be left to his son Beau. Cassidy also has a daughter, Katie, whose mother he never married. “'It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits here under to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendant of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy,” the will says.
