SAN FRANCISCO — Helping Sunnyvale-based semiconductor supplier Silicon Image Inc. ink its $600 million sale to Lattice Semiconductor Corp. was bittersweet for Fenwick & West's David Michaels.

Silicon Image first turned to the Mountain View-based partner in 1995 for help with incorporation, and Michaels helped take the company public four years later.

On Tuesday, Portland, Ore.-based Lattice, represented by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, finalized a deal to buy Silicon Image at a value of $7.30 per share.
