In the battle for market share in Northern California, law firms are hedging their bets on San Francisco over Silicon Valley.

In the last three years, 10 of the 13 new market entrants have targeted San Francisco, including Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; Debevoise & Plimpton; and international firm Kennedys. Add to that the fact that 27% of Am Law 100 firms based outside California only have an office in the bay, versus the 11% that only have an office in the valley, and it's becoming clear that firms see more growth potential in the city.
