Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday that he’s seen a first draft of legislation he proposed to create a $10,000 bounty for private enforcement of California’s gun laws.

Speaking at a press event in Dublin, Newsom said the law will mirror Texas’ SB8, which bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy and allows private citizens to enforce the law through civil lawsuits. He did not offer specific details of what the legislation might include.
