Apple filed a trade secret lawsuit Friday in California Northern District Court against two former Apple engineers and Rivos Inc., a Silicon Valley startup developing rival system-on-chip (SoC) technology. The suit, backed by Morrison & Foerster, accuses Rivos of a coordinated campaign to poach Apple employees with access to proprietary SoC designs. Numerous Apple employees who have left for Rivos downloaded proprietary materials before departing, the suit alleges. The complaint seeks monetary damages and an injunction barring the defendants from actual or threatened misappropriation of Apple's trade secrets. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 5:22-cv-02637, Apple Inc., a California Corporation v. Rivos, Inc. et al.
