Duane Morris has expanded into China with the launch of a new office in Shanghai. The US firm, which is still awaiting approval from the PRC Ministry of Justice, will open the base under the banner Duane Morris Selvam, its joint law venture in Asia. Leon Yee, managing director of Asian entity, will serve as chief representative of the new office, and will be joined by Chong Eng Wee, an associate director in Singapore. The office will be staffed with five lawyers in total.

Linklaters and Paul Hastings lead on bid for Spain's Campofrio

Linklaters and Paul Hastings took lead roles as Chinese meat processing giant Shuanghui International tied-up with Mexican food company Sigma Alimentos in a joint bid for share control of Spanish processed-meat business, the Campofrio Food Group. The deal, worth approximately $966m but still subject to approval, will see Sigma and Shuanghui combine their existing stakes in the company and offer €6.90 per share for the remaining stock. Together they currently own 82% of Campofrio's shares.

Clifford Chance (CC) has said it is back on track to achieve its 2014-2015 revenue targets in Asia after seeing a slowdown in the last financial year amid a slump in capital markets and M&A work. The magic circle firm, which recorded a 3% drop in Asia revenues in the financial year 2012-2013, said it had adjusted its expectations to account for market volatility, but was still eyeing revenues close to its original £250m goal.
