Farrer & Co has become the latest in a string of firms to announce job cuts, kicking off a redundancy consultation which will affect 12 staff. The review, first reported today on RollOnFriday, will cover one fee earner role, along with two professional support lawyers, three secretaries and six business services staff.

SNR Denton's London-based head of trade and export Geoffrey Wynne is set to leave the firm to launch a UK-base for US firm Sullivan & Worcester (S&W). Wynne, who is top-ranked by Chambers and Partners for commodities trade finance work, advises banks and trade financiers on trade and commodity transactions. He is set to head S&W's new London office, which will mark the firm's first international outpost.

Bakers leads UPS-TNT deal challenge as €5.2bn takeover collapses

Baker & McKenzie has successfully challenged the proposed €5.2bn (£4.3bn) takeover of delivery giant TNT Express by United Parcel Service (UPS), which has collapsed after the European Commission moved to block the deal. FedEx challenged the merger on competitive grounds after UPS's bid was announced in early 2012, with the European Commission subsequently opening an investigation into the proposed deal in July.

Dewey filings reveal $14m in fee claims by bankruptcy advisers

Advisers to Dewey & LeBoeuf's estate are seeking more than $14m (£8.7m) in fees and expenses for work carried out in the first five months of the defunct US law firm's bankruptcy proceedings, new filings have revealed. A dozen applicants, including law firms, financial advisers, wind-down consultants and administrative advisors have so far filed claims in New York bankruptcy courts for services rendered between 28 May and the end of October last year. The claims are set to be considered by Judge Martin Glenn on 24 January.

Taylor Wessing has overhauled its management board with real estate chief Keith Barnett set to replace finance head Rodney Dukes in the role in the New Year. Barnett, who has headed the real estate team since 2007, will also replace Dukes leading one of the firm's three overarching business groups, which includes real estate, finance, insolvency, construction, environment and planning. He will be replaced as head of real estate by partner Mark Bennett from 1 January.

Nixon Peabody to close Paris to focus on US

Nixon Peabody is set to close its Paris office, with the firm aiming to shift its focus to the US. The firm's Paris office currently has 11 partners, two of whom split their time with other offices, seven associates and a paralegal, according to Nixon Peabody's website. The team is headed up by office managing partner Douglas Glucroft. It is unclear where any of the Paris lawyers will go next.
