Nabarro cuts trainee places by 30% as firm confirms spring retention

Nabarro has cut back the number of trainee vacancies if offers by almost 30%, as the firm becomes one of the first of the UK top 50 to confirm its retention figures for this spring's qualifying intake. The firm has slimmed down the number of available training contracts to 25 for the July 2013 deadline, down from thirty-five on offer in July last year.

Clifford Chance (CC) has cut back the number of trainees it takes on in London by almost one fifth, with an announcement on the firm's latest newly qualified (NQ) intake pushed back to January next year. I recently did a CV tips session at Reading University, and as a result have been reviewing around 20 CVs from the perspective of a future employer. Here are my top 10 CV tips: 1. Tell stories. Most graduate jobs don't actually need a CV plus cover letter any more - they use online application forms, so the CV is a template from which you will pick out, paste and adapt the relevant details. Notice that most application forms ask questions, inviting you to tell a story; for example, to show how you reacted, dealt with a difficult situation or explain what you learned - so present some of your experiences as mini-stories about your role in a situation.
