SRA picks Weekes to lead 'racial bias' probe

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has appointed 23 Essex Street tenant Anesta Weekes QC to chair a working party looking into the disproportionate number of black and minority solicitors subject to regulatory decisions. Weekes - who is best known for her role as counsel to the Stephen Lawrence enquiry - will oversee the working party as it prepares to make a number of recommendations to Lord Herman Ouseley, who is conducting an independent review of the SRA's procedures.
