Texas GCs' Pay Is UpGeneral counsel at 39 of Texas' largest companies made more money in 2001 than in 2000, with an average bump of 10 percent to their pay package, according to Texas Lawyer's annual report on GC compensation. Although many of the stock options granted are "under water" because of declining stock markets, the good news is that GC salaries may increase as companies back off their reliance on stock options.
