White & Case Rebuilds in London With Skadden Restructuring HireWhite & Case has made its first hire in London since the loss of six U.K. partners earlier this year. Skadden restructuring lawyer Chris Pilkington will join White & Case as a partner in April. He joined Skadden in October 2004 and was promoted to the rank of senior counsel there in May 2008. Pilkington will bolster White & Case's financial restructuring group in London, which lost highly rated restructuring lawyer Dan Hamilton to Ashurst last year.

Shearman Is Latest Firm to Revamp Pay for U.K. AssociatesShearman & Sterling is ditching associate lockstep for its lawyers in the U.K., Asia and the Middle East in favor of a merit-based pay system. The new system, which goes into effect May 1, will see all associates assessed twice a year against a number of criteria including client relationships, legal and technical capabilities and interpersonal skills. Associates will be placed into one of three tiers, with each level having maximum and minimum base salaries, which are yet to be decided.

Bird & Bird Reports a 29 Percent Bump in RevenueBird & Bird has seen revenues soar by just under 30 percent during the last financial year in part boosted by a merger with a London boutique and a tie-up with a Finnish firm.
