Allen & Overy Targets White Collar Crime With Hire of Hong Kong Litigation Partner

Allen & Overy has boosted its Hong Kong office with the hire of a litigation partner from Mallesons Stephen Jaques. White-collar crime specialist Simon Clarke is currently in discussions with Mallesons about the terms of his intended departure from the firm. Clarke has been a partner with Mallesons since the Australia-based practice merged with his former firm, Kwok & Yih, in 2004. He focuses on complex commercial litigation including advising on corporate collapses and international commercial fraud.

Clifford Chance is abandoning its current bonus system of using billable hour targets as the key benchmark for associate bonuses. The firm previously determined associate bonus payouts based on performance, but only if individuals had first reached a target number of hours billed. The Magic Circle firm says it will continue to take billable hours into account when determining bonuses, but will now also give more importance to other criteria, independent of how many hours associates have billed.
