Clifford Chance Corporate Crime Trio Join DLA Piper in Germany

DLA Piper has hired a three-lawyer corporate crime team from Clifford Chance in Germany, including Frankfurt-based partner Juergen Taschke. He will be responsible for building up DLA Piper's corporate crime and international investigations team in Germany alongside Hamburg-based litigation partner Carsten Grau, who is currently the only white-collar specialist partner at DLA in Germany.

Baker Botts Reports 19 Percent Surge in Profits

Baker Botts has added its name to the ranks of U.S. firms posting strong financial results for 2007, with profits jumping by almost a fifth at the Houston-based law firm. Profits per equity partner (PEP) improved by 18.6 percent to a new mark of $1.3 million, up from $1.09 million in 2006. Baker also saw revenues jump significantly, with turnover growing by just under 15 percent for the previous 12-month period.
