Mr. Jason Fries is a forensic expert witness currently serving as CEO and Lead Forensic Expert at 3D Foren-
sic. Mr. Fries has a well-developed expertise in several forensic subject areas including:

Jason Fries has worked on over 3,000 legal cases including civil, criminal, and federal cases, partnering with
prosecution, plaintiff and defense teams. He had maintained a 100% admissibility record for
courtroom animations for over 20 years of production and has produced industry-leading forensic
analyses and animations since 1998.
Mr. Fries was the inventor of Laser-Based Photogrammetry, a method of extracting 3D measurements from
2D images through digital software. He was one of the first to have a forensic production built on laser scan-
ning admitted into trial in the United States Court system. Fries also helped develop the first
computer-generated animation to be accepted in Santa Clara Superior Court, along with the first
forensic animation admitted into the Superior Court of Hawaii.
Fries has modernized OIS analysis by combining cutting-edge forensic technology, including 3D
visualization and advanced video analysis, with human factors (in use-of-force) expertise. Fries built his
understanding of OIS and human factors expertise through completion of the highest training program
offered by the Force Science Institute. He has also worked with leading academics to help develop advanced
analytical procedures in the fields of nighttime video analysis as well as mathematical procedures to create
forensically accurate driver’s eye videos.
