Expertise: Economic and statistical analysis of damages from personal injury (including evaluation of
life care plans), wrongful death, employment discrimination, evaluation of pensions, and
lost business profits
Services: Preliminary estimates of economic damages; reports for use in negotiation and trial; expert
testimony; evaluation of adverse economic reports; consultation on construction of
interrogatories and cross examination of adverse experts.
Experience: Dr. Macpherson has evaluated damages since 2000, testifying regularly in Federal and
state courts (FL, GA, KS, MI, MO, TX). Most cases have been calculation of economic
damages suffered due to personal injury, wrongful death, or employment discrimination
but have also included business fraud, breach of contract, consumer damages, and
statistical analysis of discrimination claims. Clients have included attorneys for plaintiff
and defendant, and the U.S. Attorney’s office (Hartford and Oklahoma City).
Education: B. S. Economics, Pennsylvania State University; and Ph. D., Economics, Pennsylvania
State University. Continuing education through research, publications, presentations and
attendance at professional meetings.
Publications: Over 60 papers in professional journals including the Industrial and Labor Review,
Journal of Forensic Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Labor
Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics. Research has been funded by a
variety of entities including the National Science Foundation, Florida Legislature, and the
National Association of Realtors. Co-author of the undergraduate labor economics text,
Contemporary Labor Economics, as well as the principles of economics text, Economics:
Private and Public Choice.
Positions: E.M. Stevens Professor of Economics and Department Chair at Trinity University. Prior to
joining Trinity University, held the Rod and Hope Brim Eminent Scholar Chair in
Economics and was Director of the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy at Florida
State University.
Associations: Served as vice-president of the National Association of Forensic Economics, and served as
vice president of the Southern Economic Association.
Honors: Included in Who’s Who in Economics, Fourth Edition, which includes the 1,200 most
frequently cited economists in the years 1990-2000 using the Social Science Citation
Index.
