Hogan Lovells acts on multibillion-euro note programme

Hogan Lovells has taken the lead role on French asset manager Amundi's two recent multibillion-euro asset-backed note programmes issued on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The instruction, which came through the transatlantic firm's Paris office, saw the establishment of a €10bn (£8.3bn) English law programme and a €10bn French law programme, which will be used to invest in secured structured products through a single Luxembourg securitisation vehicle.

Slaughters advises as Chinese online shopping giant goes private

Slaughter and May has taken the lead role on the $2.5bn (£1.6bn) privatisation of Chinese online shopping giant Alibaba.com. The magic circle firm is advising Alibaba on its withdrawal from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, fielding a team led by Hong Kong capital markets partner Benita Yu (pictured). The privatisation, announced on 21 February this year, has seen Alibaba Group offer HK$13.50 (£1.10) per share, a 60% premium on the 60-day average closing price.

Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, Shearman & Sterling and NCTM are all advising on the proposed listing of the cashmere clothing fashion brand, which comes after Italian brands Salvatore Ferragamo and Prada concluded listings last year in Italy and Hong Kong respectively.

US law firms Fenwick & West and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett have secured the lead advisory roles on Facebook's much-anticipated initial public offering (IPO) aftter the social networking giant filed for the $5bn (£3.2bn) listing yesterday (1 February), reports The Am Law Daily. According to the S-1 filing, Fenwick chairman Gordon Davidson and securities group co-chair Jeffrey Vetter are leading the team from the firm that has won the much-coveted lead counsel role for Facebook.

Allen & Overy (A&O) and Linklaters have topped Thomson Reuters' EMEA rankings for bank roles on debt and equity capital markets (ECM) transactions in 2011 – a year in which the volume of debt issues fell more than 7%. A&O advised managers on 472 debt issues generating proceeds of $272.5bn (£175.1bn) to head the bank-side rankings across the EMEA region, with Linklaters, Clifford Chance (CC), Davis Polk & Wardwell and Cahill Gordon & Reindel making up the rest of the top five.
