So we began simply with op-ed pieces like Naveen Ramachandrappa's, getting the word out that there was help through the State Bar's Lawyers Assistance Program (LAP). And we saved lives. Within a week of starting the program, we had at least two Georgia lawyers who let us know that they had been contemplating suicide but simply by reading about our efforts, decided to get help.

The worst of it was a major depressive episode that began shortly after my first year of law school at the University of Georgia and continued through my entire second year of law school.
