Pennsylvania's Democratic governor sued the state Legislature on July 28 over a package of proposed constitutional amendments that Republican lawmakers are pursuing, including one that would say the state constitution does not guarantee any rights relating to abortion or public funding of abortions.

The state House of Representatives was scheduled to return to session Sept. 12, subject to recall by Speaker Bryan Cutler, R-Lancaster. The Pennsylvania Senate was set to reconvene Sept. 19, subject to recall by Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, R-Centre.
