Norton Rose continues Mid East push with private equity hire for Dubai arm

Norton Rose has bolstered its practice in the Middle East with the hire of a corporate partner from New Zealand. Andrew Lewis, who focuses on private equity and venture capital work, has joined the top 10 City law firm's Dubai office after 11 years as a partner with Simpson Grierson in Auckland. His appointment takes Norton Rose's Middle East offering to 12 partners across Dubai, Bahrain, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

Clifford Chance (CC) is set to become the latest City firm to launch an office in Abu Dhabi, with an opening date set for the end of this week (3 August) after the firm won a license to practise last month. A ten-lawyer team will be led on the ground by Dubai-based banking and finance partner Richard Ernest, and overseen from Dubai by Gulf managing partner Graham Lovett.
