Dechert and Skadden Arps secure trophy public float on Czech £1.1bn mining IPO

Dechert has landed a trophy corporate role advising Czech coal mining company New World Resources (NWR) on a flotation on the main stock exchanges in London, Prague and Warsaw that could be worth up to £1.1bn.The deal, which was scheduled for an early May listing as Legal Week went to press, is set to be the largest ever in Czech history and the largest European initial public offering (IPO) this year. It will also be the first to have a triple listing on the three bourses.

Irish heavyweight A&L Goodbody has made up seven lawyers to its partnership in its latest round of internal promotions. Corporate gained two new partners, with Niamh Coyne and Cian McCourt both made up. Banking lawyer Maireadh Dale also gets the nod, as do project finance and energy specialist Ross Moore, David Main in the pensions practice and investment funds specialist Carol Widger.

Freshfields leads on Deutsche Bahn IPO

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is advising German state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn on the initial public offering (IPO) of its mobility and logistics business in a deal valued at around €5bn (£3.94bn). The City giant is advising Deutsche Bahn on the partial privatisation of what is Germany's last major state-owned enterprise, with the stake set to be listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange representing a 24.9% share of the group.

The closely-watched case, which began in 2001 and is the first test case for Germany's newly-introduced group action rules, sees 17,000 shareholders suing Deutsche Telekom for a reported E80m (£63m).
