Wragges cuts 26 roles following back office restructuring

Wragge & Co has made 26 redundancies following the transfer of part of its support function to business process outsourcing (BPO) company Intelligent Office. The firm launched a redundancy consultation in May this year after conducting a review of its back office operations, placing 180 jobs at risk with 30 full-time roles expected to be cut. The review closed in August, with 26 staff members opting for redundancy. The results of the consultation affected PA roles across the firm's four legal groups: corporate, commercial, finance and projects; real estate; human resources; and disputes.

CMS senior partner expected to make bid for second term as firm gears up for 2014 vote

CMS Cameron McKenna senior partner Dick Tyler (pictured) is expected to stand for a second term as the countdown to a vote early in the New Year begins. Tyler's three-year term as the firm's senior partner ends next May. He was appointed to the role in 2011 following a contested vote. Sources at the firm said they expect Tyler to go for the top job again, but opinion is divided over whether partners will support the bid.

Wragges elects projects chief as new managing partner

Wragge & Co has appointed projects head of projects David Fennell as its new managing partner in an uncontested election. Fennell (pictured) will replace current postholder Ian Metcalfe, taking up the role from April next year. Metcalfe will assist Fennell during a handover period beginning at the start of January. Metcalfe, who has been managing partner since 2006, is returning to practice and focus on building his corporate client base.

K&L Gates UK limited liability partnership (LLP) paid out more in in remuneration in 2012 than it made in profit, accounts published on Company's House reveal. The UK partnership made payments to members to the tune of £5.36m in remuneration and profit shares, despite profits before taxation standing at £3.61m for 2012.
