CMS Cameron McKenna's European alliance has appointed its first-ever director of operations at the same time as the body relocates its headquarters to Frankfurt. The CMS network has named Matthew Gorman in the new director of operations position, in which he is expected to play a key role overseeing convergence between CMS member firms.

Field Fisher Waterhouse has launched an office in Paris, taking on seven partners from historic alliance partner Dubarry after it secured permission to practise from the French Bar last week. The new office, which will be the firm's third international outpost, opened for business last week. The top 40 City firm has taken on Dubarry partners Mario Celaya, Philippe Netto, Louis-Bernard Buchman, Valerie Dubaile, Bruno Ducoulombier, Stephane Benezant and Remi Kleiman. They have been joined by 13 further fee earners.

Dewey & LeBoeuf associate Sabine Konrad has become the youngest-ever arbitrator to be appointed to World Bank-affiliated investment disputes panel the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Konrad, 33, is an associate in the newly-merged firm's Paris office and joins the ICSID panel of arbitrators alongside Dewey's London international dispute resolution co-head, Arthur Marriott. Marriott currently holds the post of conciliator on the panel.

Gide Loyrette Nouel has voted in its new management; with litigation head Pierre Raoul-Duval taking over the reins from Gerard Tavernier as senior partner of the French giant. Following a partner vote, Raoul-Duval has been elected to replace Tavernier - who had been at the helm almost a decade - from January 2008. Xavier de Kergommeaux has been re-elected as managing partner.
