Allen & Overy (A&O) has signed an exclusive referral agreement with Paris boutique Santoni Paccioni et Associes to boost its restructuring capabilities in the French capital. The agreement will see A&O will work on an exclusive basis with the restructuring and insolvency specialist on debt restructurings, corporate and fund buy-outs, insolvency related procedures and distressed debt situations in France.

Clifford Chance (CC) has bagged a lead role on the $7.2bn (£3.57bn) acquisition of Danone's biscuit business by Kraft Foods. The magic circle firm advised Kraft, with New York-based relationship partner Sarah Jones (M&A) leading a team of lawyers from the US and Paris. The Paris team included corporate partners Gilles Lebreton and Marcus Billam, Eric Davoudet (tax) and Christian Lacheze (intellectual property).

Linklaters' UK private equity team has signed its first major deal for Terra Firma, advising the private equity house on the disposal of its 50% stake in German motorway service operator Autobahn Tank & Rast. The deal follows a competitive bidding process and is worth around €1.2bn (£807m).

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Shearman & Sterling and Chiomenti have taken the lead roles on the London Stock Exchange's (LSE) €1.5bn (£1.1bn) acquisition of Borsa Italiana. Freshfields is advising long-term client LSE on both UK and Italian law aspects of the deal which was agreed on Friday (22 June). The Italian team includes partners Mario Ortu (corporate), Raffaele Lener (regulatory) and Gian Luca Zampa (competition). In London principal consultant Graham Nicholson has the lead role with finance partner Peter Hall and competition partner Deidre Trapp also advising.
